Before breathwork, I lived what most would call a normal life. I had some really great experiences, but I always felt like there was more. I was always giving more to everyone else and everything else than I ever gave to myself.
Breathwork is what broke through all of the masks. It broke through all of the stories. And it gave me the opportunity to actually see myself from a different perspective. I started to see how I was showing up. And more importantly, I started to see what everything that was not going well was actually tied to.
Before breathwork, I was a yes man. I would say yes to everything because I was afraid of saying no. I would even lie just to avoid having to say no. That is how much fear I had around it. I have always been a really hard worker, but I never fully capitalized on my opportunities. There was always some form of self-sabotage.
And in relationships, this was the biggest piece. When I was not in a relationship, my essence would come out. People felt me. There was a magnetism. People were drawn to me. But the moment I got into a relationship, I lost myself. From around 19 or 20 years old all the way into my early 40s, I was almost always in a relationship. Three long-term relationships, two marriages, and an engagement.
It was not until the end of that engagement that I really started to explore breathwork journeys. Breathwork had been in my life before, and it supported me in beautiful ways. But these journeys… the depth of understanding that came from them… it is remarkable.
Before breathwork, I relied on external validation in almost every area of my life, especially in relationships. I stopped doing things that I loved. I stopped having my own hobbies. Instead, I made it my mission to make the other person happy. Because I did not have my own mission.
I needed to feel their love. Their acceptance. Their appreciation. Their gratitude. Because those were things I was not able to give myself. And it was easy to get from my partners, because I was so good at understanding everyone else’s needs… but my own. I did not know myself. I did not know what my needs even were.
My first real breathwork experience was actually an accident. I thought I was going to a yoga and reiki event. Instead, I found myself crying, sobbing, and having a full somatic release that I had never allowed myself to experience before.
I used to hold everything in. I would not communicate until things bubbled over. There was so much fear around not being the pleaser. And after breathwork, for the first time, I connected to myself. I connected to my body. And when I allowed my body to finally have a voice, I could start to understand what it had been trying to tell me all along. I created space to actually listen.
From there, I committed to going to breathwork every other week for a year. And that year changed everything. I truly feel like I did 20 years of healing in that one year. Maybe even 20 lifetimes. Largely because of those journeys.
That is why this work exists now. Because there are so many parts of ourselves that we do not know, that we do not understand, that we are not even aware of. Or we simply cannot see them because we are inside of them. Breathwork gives you the opportunity to step back. To see things for what they actually are. To see the patterns, the cords, the connections.
And from that place, you begin to reclaim your personal sovereignty and autonomy. Something that was missing from my life for a long time. Through these journeys, I saw so much. How I processed. How I felt. Where I was holding things in my body, in my mind, in my life.
And with each journey, I started to discover who I was. I started to remember who I was. I started to see who I had been. And I began to dissolve the parts of me that were never truly me. The parts that were created at one point to keep me safe, but over time became patterns… and then became the blueprint I was living my life from.
Each journey took me deeper. Layer by layer. Like a nesting doll. The outer layers are what everyone sees. But deep inside, at the core, is who you really are. And that part of you is just waiting to be uncovered.
These breathwork journeys have the power to bring you back to yourself. To reconnect you with happiness. With joy. With purpose. With passion. With all the parts of you that feel like they are missing. Or not as alive as you know they could be.
